Hello everyone. I have been on a tight budget as I have been travelling last year and this year I’m going to travel with my husband again, in our motorhome. So buying crafty things wasn’t my priority, but I did managed to gather few things, that I want to share with you in this blog post. Make sure you watch the video down below and the list of all things I got you can see below as well. For example, I got two books, both I received for Christmas. One is to learn watercolouring, a book by Ana Victoria Calderon and the other one is to learn to draw, step-by-step and it’s by Peggy Dean. These books will be very helpful for my new series, where I’m making cards for which you don’t need any stamps or dies, because I need to learn to draw and paint. Also I discovered a new brand - Gerda Steiner Designs - I think I love all of their stamp sets. They are really cute and fun. I only bought two stamp sets, together with three stamp sets from Avery Elle. I don’t need any new stamp sets as I have a lot that I haven’t used yet, but they are mostly flower stamp sets (if not all). I needed stamps for fun cards to give to the male members of my family. Next thing I got is gouache. I have been searching for a good paint to use to create stars, like a splatter on a dark background. I do have few things already, in my last haul I showed you an acrylic paint, which did not work well. I also have the Copic Opaque White and I’m quite happy with it, but I don’t like the bottle. You can get two different bottles and I got the one with the applicator. The applicator is rubbish and it’s difficult to get the paint out. Recently however, I’ve been watching more and more watercolour artists and all of them use gouache for splatter. So, I thought I will give it a shot. When I was in a local DIY store (OBI), where they have a small artist supply section, I saw a pack of 12 gouache paints and it wasn’t too expensive and I decided to buy it. In the same store I bought a pad with watercolour card stock from Canson. I bought it for my Christmas cards and I quite like it. On the topic of card stock. If you saw my last haul, I showed you the Canson XL Mixed Media pad. Well, I bought it by accident. I actually wanted to buy the watercolour pad. I know this card stock from Kristina Werner’s videos, but I only remembered the colour of the pad, which was dark blue. I did not know that in Europe the colours are swapped. Dark blue is the Mixed Media pad and turquoise is the colour for the Watercolour pad. I like both types of the card stock, actually I prefer the Mixed Media as it has a nice texture. The only thing I don’t like is the size. It says it’s A4, but once you tear it off from the pad, it’s over a centimetre smaller. The two following items have a little bit of a story. Last year I hardly made any cards. As I was travelling, I just didn’t feel like making any cards. I did few, but only what I needed. As a card maker yourself, you know how much mess it creates. We have a table in our motorhome, but I did not feel like taking all stuff out and create a mess. Just a thought about it, stressed me out. However, towards the end of our trip I was missing card making. At least little bit of colouring and painting. So I thought, I will buy me a sketch book and just do some watercolour landscapes. I really didn’t think this was so difficult. What I wanted was: an A5 or A6 sketch book, so it doesn’t take up too much space on my table, coil bound (not a pad with removable pages), thicker card stock, preferably watercolour as I wanted to do watercolouring and it needed to be cheap, or reasonably priced. This all seemed to be too difficult. All the watercolour sketch books were way too expensive, over twenty Euro for one book. Im Sweden I managed to get a sketch book with lighter paper (140gsm) and the watercolour sketchbook I got from Amazon, from Arteza. They offer three pack for twenty Euro. The only problem was that I received only one book. The customer service from Amazon tried to tell me that it is only one book, but all the information on the product page was saying three. One thing I have to mention. I bought the empty waterclour tin from Arteza. I have this plastic tin with half-pan watercolurs from Winsor & Newton and I want to extend my watercolour collection in the future and I was thinking about using the plastic tin for the gouache I bought. Ha! The half pans in the Arteza tin are slightly bigger then the standard half-pans you get from Winsor & Newton. Why Arteza? Why? I decided to use this tin for the gouache and in the future I will buy other tin from other brand. I’m gonna finsh here, as I didn’t take any photos of the products, I don’t want to create a post with a block of text.
