It was Monday, the weather was miserable. It felt like autumn was coming even though it was middle of August. I guess, so far up in North, the autumn arrives earlier.
After few days staying in Finland, we were excited to return back to Sweden. However, we will be returning to Finland, even though it is going to be for just a quick moment.

We’ve been travelling across Scandinavia in our motorhome for a few months already and while our original idea was to travel through Norway, the roads lead us to Finland. Therefore, visiting to the Santa Claus Village wasn’t in our minds, but when I looked at the map and saw it wasn’t too far, I convinced my husband to check it out. Christmas is my favourite holiday and as a fan of Christmas, of course we had to go there!
It’s been a long time I posted last edition to these series. To be honest, I’ve been lazy, especially when I know, no one reads this and also it’s been busy. Fun thing is, we are on the road again, we managed to get to Sweden, before the craziness with the current health crises started and we already visited few places, where we stayed last year. But this blog is still about that last year’s trip.
So where was I? Oh, yea! We were about to leave Norway and head to Finland!
Norway here we come!
It was still Sunday morning, the previous week, when we packed our things and drove the last few kilometres to the the Norwegian border. The landscape was really beautiful, the mountains were raising in front of us.
I can’t believe it’s going to be three months since we arrived to Sweden. I really love this country! We started in Malmö and driven through the east coast up north and now we are just a few kilometres from the northern boarder, therefore I couldn’t believe that soon it’s going to be all over and we will leave Sweden behind.
After spending about three weeks between Luleå and Kvikkjokk, we were ready to move further north, deeper into the Swedish Lapland.
Last article I finished at the lake Skalka, at a small picnic area, which is located between Jokkmokk and Kvikkjokk and this is where the new week is beginning. While the previous week finished with a gloomy, grey weather, the new week started with sunny, blue skies. Absolutely perfect! We could not say no to staying one more day.
After just over one week in Luleå it was time to move on and head further north. While it was sad leaving Luleå, I was still excited for our next adventure, as our destination was the Arctic Circle.
Finally we arrived to Luleå!
Luleå is our favourite city in Sweden, this is the fourth time we visited this city in the past two years and it is a city we for sure would not mind moving to. If we found a work here, of course. So you can imagine how happy I was, when we finally reached this city. I actually didn’t think that we will manage to do that before Midsummer, but we did it. |
